Drown your fears

Writer's picture: Augustine J AlbertAugustine J Albert

Elevation doesn't come easy. It's our faith and understanding that elevates us from one stage to the other. God is constantly in the business of showing us new things in life. He surely doesn't want us to stay in one place in our entire life... If that was the case how boring would life be.

He wants to increase the intensity of His goodness over us and He wants to lead us to a higher place in the mountain. The inheritance of our Abba is great and He wants to show us new and greater things every day.

If you ask me what take us from level one to the next level, it's our faith and understanding. Without this, we are unprepared or not qualified for the next level.

New levels not only welcome new blessings but new obstacles too. Elevation doesn't come easy. It's beautiful when God elevates us to new levels. But more intense faith and understanding are required.

This morning I read from Gospel of Matthew.

Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. Matthew 8:23‭-‬24‭, ‬26 NIV

Here is the picture of Jesus and His disciples crossing a lake after a very successful day doing ministry. He healed many people, He taught great lessons about Faith and so much happened. It's one of those days you call it a perfect day.

How do we know if we are ready to see greater glory than what we saw previously? In the case of Disciples, Jesus allowed the test to see the measure of their faith through a storm. As they were crossing from one level to another, there came a ferocious storm. The scripture depicts the fearful disciples instead of disciples full of faith.

“You of little faith, why are you so afraid?”

Maybe it's a disappointed tone of voice when Jesus said that. But Jesus' heart was that they would utilise their faith more than their fears.

In this short devotional blog, I want to remind you something important. Allow your fears to drown in the sea. Let our faith take the raise.

You may have all kind of fears today. Remember you're not alone. As I write this even I can think about areas in my life that can cripple my faith. It's natural to have fears. But don't give in to your fear. Jesus is by your side and He wants to lead you too higher places in your life.

Drown your fears today and give your faith a raise.
