He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Growing up I have heard this verse a lot of times, Be perfect because your heavenly Father is perfect. My immediate response was to be perfect or strive to be perfect but didn't really understand how to be perfect. I often use to look up to the religious people as a standard for being perfect. But the more I tried the more I failed.
I believe perfection is something we all strive to achieve. Often in the pursuit of becoming perfect people also go down the wrong path too. Some people have been so dissatisfied with life because they didn't understand what it really means to be perfect.
That is why some suffer depression, anxiety, or issues with body image and many more problems related to this.
Many people have concluded perfection is not possible. Others continue to strive to be perfect not really understanding what God really means by it.
In fact, the basic call to a person in this world is to be a reflection of the character of God. To follow the heart of God for humanity means we are choosing to be perfect.

God is perfect and He is complete. So if we are to mirror God in that way, we are to mirror him in his moral excellence as well as in other ways.
One of the ways is to just learn the character of Jesus our Savior. He was the perfect representation of the father in heaven. aven. God has a plan and purpose for you, the people and for the entire world. Our Father in heaven is the perfect example for us to be perfect.
Its all right if we failed. But continue to be a reflection of our Father in heaven.
There are so many ways we can be perfect like that Father in heaven.
