Welcome once again. First, you embraced the Trough, then you witnessed the closeness of the loving swordsmith. Yesterday we learned about the power of being consistent in the temperature of the burning Trough. So far you are going strong, my friend. Here is another wonderful thought before you come out off the Trough to get shaped into a powerful sword.
Blog Four: 4 things God's fire will do in our life
While the swordsmith maintains a temperature of 1500 Degree Celcius. The fire inside the trough is a literal furnace and the glowing red fire looks extremely frightening. But, In this scenario what looks like a fire that will consume or destroy is only a fire that will make the metal stronger. When we stay in the fire of the Holy Spirit or in the other words the presence of God we are getting prepared and we are finding new strength in the Lord.
Before the quarantine started because of the COVID 19 I had enrolled in a gym to get fitter. My experience in the first few days was so grim that it made me feel like not going back to that place. I hated the muscle soreness and body pain, etc. But after a month of being consistent, I started feeling the changes and I felt more energized. It's the same with the fire of God. When we have a good understanding of what the fire does to us, we won't be scared of embracing that fire. Rather we will learn to welcome it or we will become people who can't live without the presence of the Holy Spirit.
There are many things that fire of the Holy Spirit does in our life. Here are a few of them.
Fire makes our reverence grow
Exodus 19:18 Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the LORD descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain trembled violently.
God showing Himself as the most powerful source depicts that He is not something to be played around with. The fire that can mold us can also be a fire that can turn out to be for our danger. How we treat God's fire and presence will determine how we will draw strength from it. May our revelation of His fire make our heart grow full of reverence for God.
Fire refines and not consume you
God is a Fire that refines. The difference between the refiner's fire and a forest fire is what it brings as the outcome. The forest fire will destroy and bring loose to everything that is on its way, but the refining fire will purify us. As we spend more time in the presence of God, the power of sin will become weaker. The grip of addiction or certain habits that isn't benefiting you will no longer have any place in your life. Because the Holy Spirits fire has the power to refine us and make us pure in God's sight.
“And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are My people,’ And they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”
Fire exposes our weakness
I have noticed it from my own life, every time I stayed in the purifying fire of God's presence God would point out to my weakness that I need to lay bare in God's presence. When I expose it to God He begins to replace that weakness with new strength. Do you have weaknesses in your life? Are those weaknesses holding you back from living a full life that God has intended for you? Are they hindering you from being effective in God's hands?
The place you have to be in is the fire. Fire will expose and replace your weakness with new strength.
Fire strengthens you
Just as our physical body needs to lift weights and stay active to get fitter. Our Spirit man needs the fire or the presence of God to find new strength for each day. In the sword making process, after the metal has been in the fire enough, the metal has to go to the next level. The next process is the pounding of the hammer. Everything that the fire does to you will qualify you to the next level.
God has plans to take you to new levels. But are you strong in the Lord to take the next journey? Let's stay in the presence of God that will make us stronger. Isaiah 40:31 says, "They That Wait Upon The Lord, Shall Renew Their Strength, They Shall Mount Up with Wings of Eagles, They Shall Run and Not Be Weary Walk Faint"
Dear Abba, We ask you today for your fire and presence. Make us hungry for it and desperate. May You make our reverence grow, refine us, expose us, and make us stronger. As a son/daughter it's Your desire that we come out as weapons with great capacity. Therefore, we need your fire today.
In Jesus' name Amen!
